Rodney Wright - Executive Officer

I have over 30 years of experience and education from the USA in sports participant, coaching and fitness management.  In 2005, I moved to Australia and in 2008 I owned my own professional Fitness Training business Wright Time Fitness (WTF) were I also designed and created The Ultimate Kinetic fitness equipment and brand.  I’ve been responsible for helping 1000s of individuals in FNQ reach their health and fitness goals while educating clients and athletes on the benefits of healthy lifestyle choices and hard work.

After taking a post graduate course in sports management at ACPE, I became the Executive Officer for FWAS in April 2015.  I am proud to be a part of this wonderful academy and want to congratulate our athletes and coaches for a successful 2014-15 season.  I hope to be able to provide you with great management services and even stronger pathways that lead to your future athletic and coaching success in 2016 and beyond.

In just our 2nd year as an independent non-profit organization, the Far West Academy of Sport (FWAS) has demonstrated resilience and adaptability in a year of leadership and managerial changes while continuing to provide the pre-elite sports development training and education for the top young athletes in the Far West Region of NSW.

This year, FWAS bid a fond farewell to our former Executive Officer Christopher Riches.   His contributions to the academy over the last year will be forever valued and are a testament to his commitment and work ethic.  We wish him and his family well in their future endeavours.

As the new Executive Officer of FWAS, I would like to congratulate our athletes and coaches for a successful 2014-15 season at the Far West Academy of Sport. I hope to help all of our current athletes continue to reach and achieve your goals and to inspire the younger upcoming athletes to recognize their dreams of sporting success in the future.

In my time here so far, I am encouraged by the work ethic and sacrifice that is made by our athletes every day and hope to encourage you all to stay focused and continue to perform at your best every day.  FWAS will continue to work hard in our region to create successful training programs, services and education to the top young athletes in the Far West Region.

I am proud to be a part of this FWAS team and I am looking forwards to working with our Board to provide the best quality sports training scholarships in the Far West Region.  I look forwards to the future challenges and successes ahead and will always do my best to put the needs of our top young athletes first.  I hope to make a valuable contribution to the continued success and wellbeing of our athletes, coaches and families of FWAS and look forwards to seeing FWAS operate more efficiently in the future.

Our Program Officer Jarrad Harland Linton is a former academy scholarship holder and has become a reliable teammate and example of what our academy has to offer to young athletes with a strong commitment.  Mr. Linton Harland is a 23 year old graduate from University of Canberra and has a bright future in front of him in program management.  I am honoured to have him as a teammate.

I envision 2016 in a most positive light and look forwards to re engaging with our local communities and partners to ensure the strongest and most supportive relationships possible to ensure the current and future successes of the top pre elite athletes of our region.

As we embark on a new look and a new future in 2016.  We aim to continue improving the quality of our services and provide our athletes, coaches and partners, the top athlete training programs and pathways in the Far West Region.
