Chelsea Masclet Awarded FWAS 2015 Athlete of the Year

Chelsea Masclet as the 2015 FWAS Athlete of the Year.  Chelsea is Lone Star basketball player out of Broken Hill who has participated at state and national competitions and represents the bright future of basketball in Australia.  Her desire is to one day play at the national elite level.  Her parents Kristine and Kyle are loving supporters of their daughter and represent a strong work ethic that has been learned and encompassed in their daughter.  Chelsea and her family must drive over 500 kilometres each way in order for her to get to her basketball clinics and games.

Chelsea and her family were invited to The Regional Academies of Sport 2015 Parliamentary Function as the 2015 FWAS Athlete Representative where she and her family got the opportunity to represent FWAS athletes at the NSW Parliament House and meet the NSW Minister of Sport Stuart Ayers and their local MP Kevin Humphries.  The event was a tribute to the top young athletes from all 11 NSW Regional Academies of Sport and showed our Parliament the importance of the role that the Regional Academies of Sport have in young sporting lives.

Its athletes, families like Chelsea’s that we are committed to assisting at FWAS and we are inspired by her and her family’s dedication and sacrifice to reaching the higher levels of sport despite the challenges and disadvantages.  FWAS bids her congratulations and wishes her well in her bright future both on and off the court.
